It was another early start today as we were doing early entry at Epcot. We were up at 6am and got to Epcot before rope drop at 8am. This was a good plan as we managed to do the big three rides in less than an hour – Soarin, Test Track and Mission Space. We’d never been on Mission Space before as I was a bit worried about reports of people suffering badly from motion sickness on there. We did the less intense green side though and we were fine. It was great fun.
Next we went on Spaceship Earth, one of Stephen’s favourites, and then got pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks. We also got our photos taken.
Next it was time to head to the World Showcase for the Food and Wine festival. We walked all the way around the world and back down to the front entrance to get a bus to Animal Kingdom. On the way, we had a few snacks.
Mexico – Rib-eye taco and shrimp taco. Very nice!
Farm Fresh – Pepper bacon hash, with sweetcorn, potatoes, hollandaise and pickled jalapeños. Nice!
China – Beijing roasted duck in a steamed bun. Yum!
Italy – Chocolate-covered cannoli filled with sweet ricotta, chocolate and candied fruit. Mmmmm.
Not a bad start on our Festival wish list.
I’d booked the day’s FastPasses at Animal Kingdom so that was where we headed next. We were there in plenty of time so decided to do our first FP ride on standby and then again using the FP. We’d never been on Kali river rapids before. We’ve been on the Popeye ride at Universal, which is the same sort of ride, so we knew there was an excellent chance of getting wet. Why that made us think that doing it twice was a good idea, I don’t know.
On the first ride, we only got a bit damp. To be honest, I’d have settled for that and done something else, but Stephen insisted on going on again with our FPs. This time, we got wet. Very wet. I was soaked through. Dripping wet, with every inch of my clothing drenched.
This is a photo we had taken shortly afterwards.
I don’t think you can tell just how wet we were. You’ll have to take my word for it.
We dripped our way to Africa to get a coffee and then went on Dinosaur, Everest and finally the Safari.
On our way out of Dinosaur, we bumped into Donald and had our photo taken with him.
Look! I’m almost dry.
We were a bit weary at this point, having been out for about ten hours, so we headed back to our resort. We grabbed some dinner from the Mara to take up to our studio. I had a salmon dinner, which was delicious. The salmon and veggies were spicy and very tasty. Stephen had a bacon cheeseburger and fries.
We spent the rest of the evening chilling. We have a lazy morning tomorrow before our lunch reservation.
