The plan this morning was to do early entry at the Magic Kingdom, and hopefully get one last ride on the Seven dwarves mine train. We had a late night yesterday though, with Stephen staying up to watch TV until gone 2am. When the alarm went off at 6am, he did not want to get up, and to be honest, I wasn’t that keen myself although I would have got up if he’d been willing.
We ended up having an extra couple of hours kip and then ate the leftovers from Chili’s for breakfast. They were quite yummy. After slowly getting ready, we got the Disney bus to Downtown Disney and spent about four hours exploring to see what’s new. It was lovely and hot so we had ice-cream sundaes for lunch from Ghirardelli.
I had the Ocean beach which is salted caramel. Yum!
Stephen had a Brownie sundae, also yum!
We made a few purchases. I got some new earrings at a store that sells all silver jewellery. They had some lovely stuff in there. I picked up a couple of birthday presents and we went a bit mad in Mickey’s pantry as they had lots of lovely spice mixes and teas. I’m looking forward to cooking with the spices as we got some lovely mixes.
We got the bus back and chilled for an hour or so until we got peckish, and then headed for Epcot to try some more dishes at the Food and Wine festival.
We went to four different booths. First on our wish list was Puerto Rico where we had Ensalada de Carrucho – Caribbean conch salad with onion, tomato and cilantro.
They were excellent. We walked a bit further on to our next stop, which was Hawaii. There we both had the Kalua pork sliders with sweet and sour Dole pineapple chutney and spicy mayonnaise.
Yum! We really liked those. Next stop was Patagonia and here we had different dishes. I had a Beef empanada and Stephen had a grilled beef skewer with Chimichurri sauce and boniato purée.
I loved my empanada. The pastry was crisp with a delicious filling. Our final stop was South Korea for the Roasted pork lettuce wrap with kimchi slaw. Yum!
We’d had enough to eat after the last one so headed back to the Beach Club via Karamel Kuche in Germany to get some bits and bobs and a bit of dessert for when we got in. We’ve just polished off a dark chocolate-covered pineapple spear (one between us) and a caramel bacon square (one each). Delicious. Good job we do plenty of walking to work all this sugar off.
We’re going to try again for the early start tomorrow. Will we make it? Who knows 🙂
