SAL – Douceur de vivre #6

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’m delighted to say that I have a finish!

SoL-15FThat border looks lovely but it was really fiddly. I think I spent as much time looking at the back of the work as I did the front.

I’m not sure how I’m going to finish this one off. It’ll be going in the (rather full) tub of completed projects. I really must do something with them one of these days…

New project next time and I’m not sure which one it’ll be. I have one lined up ready, but there are a couple more that are clamouring for attention, so who knows which one’ll win.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs:

Avis at Sewing beside the sea
Claire at Claire93
Kate at Tall tales from Chiconia
Gun at Rutigt
Wendy at The crafter’s apprentice
Lucy at Lucyannluna
Sue at The Magpie’s nest
Constanze at Textile Dreamer
Jess at Ever the crafter

Not everyone does an update each time, but their blogs are always worth a visit.

  5. Hurrah! It’s lovely! I see cushion when I look at this, if it’s the right size? Or maybe the front panel of a bag?

    • Thanks 🙂

It’s the right size and shape for a cushion, but I’m not sure what the cats would make of that 😉
      Maybe a bag…

      • Hopefully they’d be less inclined to lie on a bag… My MIL (aka The Dowager) did a tapestry panel and got me to turn it into a bag for her, like a shopper with a flat base, but long handles so she could wear it over her shoulder. She uses it all the time, so the format works for her, at least.

  6. It’s wonderful! Well done! Do you feel you have to frame all your needlework, or could you finish this one by hemming three sides and making a casing at the top? That way you could run a dowel through it and hang it. Or turn it into a lovely pillow if it’s not too big. It really ought to be displayed, not just put away in a tub!

    • Thanks 🙂

I’m actually more inclined to frame with fabric than with a proper picture frame. It’s a lot cheaper, and easier too. I’ve done quite a few like that, including all the Cottage of the month pieces, which are all on two long dowels. And yes, I really should get some of these projects on display 😛
