My temperature blanket is growing nicely now. There’s still more Indigo than Violet in it, especially over the past week or so as it’s been quite chilly at times, but I’m hoping to see some more Violet this month and maybe some Heather too.
You can see the hexagonal shape of it much more now that it’s a bit bigger. I’m really pleased that I chose to go with that shape instead of trying to do a rectangle or square with the hexies.
It can be a bit tricky seeing where my next hexie is to go though, so I’ve got markers on each hexie of the previous round and a purple marker on the leading edge of the current round just to make sure I don’t go wrong. I may need to start using yarn scraps as markers for the next round though as I’m running out of the plastic ones.

Your temperature blanket is so awesome! I love seeing this one grow. So unique! I am afraid I would be so confused trying to stitch it as my crochet skills are next to none. I just finished the first couple of days of February on my blanket. Like you, I am looking forward to seeing some “warmer” colors.

I always feel that once you can do the basic stitches in crochet, as long as the pattern is clearly written, you can do pretty much anything. You’re getting plenty of practice in doing the basics at the moment so I think that hexies could very easily be in your near future. They’re great fun too 🙂

Thanks. I really struggle with doing anything random usually, so this is a new technique for me.

I love to craft outside my comfort zone, for me this is shawl knitting driven by pure determination. I reckon it might be a bit like knitting socks really hard to start with but it will soon be relaxing to knit shawls. Enjoy the process, it looks really lovely!

I think I like this hexagon pattern more than the granny square temperature blanket patterns I’ve seen. I’m looking forward to seeing how it looks as it grows. 🙂

I was close to doing granny squares but once I’d got the idea of hexies into my head, they wouldn’t go away again. I’m really enjoying doing them 🙂

Thanks 🙂
I’ve worked out that it’ll be about 6′ across by mid-November. I may stop then as the end of December will be halfway through a round.

I’m loving it. Much more fun than doing rows, don’t you think?
