This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and prepare to be completely unimpressed by my progress this update. Oh yes, once again the speed at which three weeks can go by has surprised me again leaving me with just a few stitches to show you. Still, at least there are some stitches and not none, so I’m thankful for that.
At the last update I had two teacups with the top one being backstitched. The plan was to start the next two cups that join onto the blue/brown cup, so that I could backstitch it, and then roll the frame up so I could carry on working my way down.
That didn’t go entirely to plan. I’ve done enough of the cup on the right to be able to backstitch the blue/brown cup but didn’t get around to starting the left side cup let alone any backstitch.
Hopefully there’ll be backstitch done and some more pretty cups for the next update.
For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs:
Avis, Claire, Gun, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, Susan,
Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, Linda, Catherine, Wendy, Mary Margaret, Timothy
Look how many of us there are now! Do allow for people being in different time zones, so not posting all at the same time, but it’s well worth doing a bit of blog hopping to see all the lovely projects that are being worked on.

This can be a difficult time of year to get anything done with a needle. Spring holidays, gardens calling, not to mention the regular activities of a busy life. The important thing is not to stress over it and enjoy the stitching when you can get to it. It does help to have these regular check-in’s though!

Some progress is better than none I say! This time of year I would have stopped stitching to work in my garden but this group keeps me at it. So now I garden AND stitch 🙂

I really like your cups, they really stand out on the black. Can’t wait to see the next one

This looks fantastic, the colours really just jump off the black background.
Any tips for stitching on black? I know I hate knitting with black wool😜

Thanks. I do love the effect of the colours on the black although it took me a few tries to find the best way to tackle it.
I have one light on my lap and I have a magnifying light above the stitching. The top light helps me to see the holes, and the bottom light shines up through them so they’re easier to see and it isn’t just a mass of black.

Absolutely! One of our stitching group is moving away at the end of summer, and I think I will make her something bright and happy to remember us by!

I like this design because of the bright colours, especially on the black fabric which is so difficult to stitch on I think.

It is a lot slower going on the black but I’m finding it a lot easier now than when I started it. The inspection lamp helps a lot, but I’ll be happy to go back to a nice cream linen after this.
(I’m trying not to think of the huge Disney kit that I have in my stash. It’s on black fabric too and I really should do it at some point. It’s a millennium one so you can guess how long I’ve had it LOL)

Could you swap the fabric to another colour for their Disney kit? I know black would look amazing but maybe it’s possible to change it.

It’s a night scene with fireworks. I might get away with a midnight blue though. Worth thinking about, thanks for the suggestion 👍

This is gorgeous on the black fabric. Can’t wait to see more. I hear you about not many stitches. Mine is going slowly right now also.

I keep thinking that I’ll do some when I get in from work but once I’ve done everything else that I need to, I’ve lost the urge to do anything other than lie down LOL
Hopefully we’ll both find the time and inclination to get some stitching done soon, eh?

Thanks. I love those little wisps of steam too, and also the little drop of coffee that’s spilling from the cup.

Carole, you’ll get your stitching mojo back here shortly! A stitch completed is one stitch closer to a finish!

I’m sure it hasn’t gone far so I’ll find it soon. And at least I managed some stitching on it so as you say, a bit closer to that finish.
