SAL – Precious dreams #12

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’m now halfway through page six of Precious Dreams.

This is where it was up to last time at the end of page five.

I’ve done four columns, which is 2520 stitches and now it looks like this. Kitty has a face!  With 12 columns to go, if I can carry on at this rate, I should be done in three more updates. I’m determined to finish this before working on anything else now as the end is in sight.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.

SAL – Precious dreams #11

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve finished page five of Precious Dreams.

This is where it was up to last time.
I’ve done three more columns which is 1890 stitches. Kitty now has the start of her face.

I’m hoping to get half of page six done for the next update but it’s getting very confetti-heavy in this section. It looks like there’s a lot of white, but there are three shades of almost identical white in there as well as several shades of very pale grey that are very close to white. I have to really concentrate on which shade I have in my needle as if I forget, I struggle to identify it.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.

SAL – Precious dreams #10

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and Precious Dreams has come back out of the box.

This is where it was up to when it was put away, with the top four pages completed.
I’m quite happy with how much I’ve got done this time. Ok, there was a lot of background, which stitches up a lot faster, but I’ve done four columns which is 2520 stitches.

Look, there’s another ear! I’m quite excited to be coming up to Kitty’s face. I have three columns left of page five, and I’m hoping to get them done for the next update, although they are a mass of confetti.

If anyone hasn’t seen an in progress pic of this before, it’s not as chaotic as it looks. Honest 😉

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs (and apologies for missing some of the links off last time. No idea how I managed that)

SAL – Pooh’s Flowers #04

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve been stitching some more on Pooh bear.

This is where I was up to last time. And this is the finished piece. Yup, it’s happy dance time!

Pooh’s Flowers, kit by Designer stitches. Worked on 32 count Murano in antique white, instead of the provided aida.

I’m so happy to have finally finished this. It took way longer than I was expecting.

Precious Dreams is back out of its box now and ready for me to carry on with it so hopefully there’ll be some progress on that for the next SAL update.

SAL – Pooh’s Flowers #03

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs. Last time I hadn’t managed to add any stitches to Pooh bear but I’ve done a little bit for this update. The thought of not having anything to post for the SAL spurred me on.

This is how it was previously.   And this is where I’m up to now. He has a body now but it’ll look a lot better with some backstitch. There’s still quite a bit of flower and grass to be added but it’s getting done, slowly but surely.

I’ve been spending most of my time in the garden or doing papercrafts. That and reading. I’ve also bought some pretty fabric to make some PJ bottoms, although I’ve no idea when I’m going to fit that in LOL

SAL – No stitching, but a bit of scrapbooking

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I haven’t managed a single stitch in the past three weeks. I’ll leave the pic of where I was up to, as a reminder of what I’m working on, and hopefully there’ll be some progress in three weeks time. Would  you like to see what I have been doing? Last weekend it was International scrapbook day and I spent three days doing lots of challenges and prompts all themed to The Movies. The weekend was run by Cal from The Scraplab and was lots of fun. I managed ten layouts and have a few more to do.

This is my favourite from the event. The challenge was to use a sketch and theme it to flowers. I used some photos from one of the Disney holidays. I’m sorry that there wasn’t any stitching for you to see this time, but I’m sure my friends on the other SAL blogs have lots of stitchy progress so do take a look.

SAL – Pooh’s Flowers #02

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs. Last time I had a new project and asked if you could guess what it was. This is how it looked then.I think it’s pretty obvious what it is now that I’ve started stitching the head and body to go under that famous red top.   I love these little kits. I stitched Eeyore’s flowers a few years ago and still have Piglet and Tigger to do.

I haven’t felt much in the mood for stitching lately so I’m happy with the small amount that I got done. Hoping my mojo returns to get this finished and then I’ll get back to Precious Dreams.

Crafting organiser

For my crafting organiser, I’ve used the base instructions for the Perpetual Organiser, which is a Cal Summers design at FB Paper Scissors Story. I’ve already done one using the full kit from Scraplab but this one was done using a couple of paper pads from The Works, which I got in the January sales for £1.50 each. I do love a bargain and I was really impressed with the quality of the papers in the pads.

I wanted something to keep track of all the crafty things that I’ve started but not yet finished, things that I’ve been intending to start for ages and odd sewing tasks that are piling up, all in the hope that it’ll get me more motivated to get cracking.

This is the front cover, with a pocket and flap with magnet closure. I didn’t have any matching embellishments for the paper pads so raided my stash for some flowers and brads and used my new-ish stamp and die set for the leaves and some more flowers. I printed off lots of different craft-related quotes and used them on the cover and throughout the book.

This is the spine. The large pocket pages are more or less the same, just in different colours. I’ve added quotes to the inside covers though. I’m using the pockets for pictures of any finished projects for that month. The stacked pocket pages all have different quotes but I didn’t add any embellishments as don’t want to make it too bulky. Sorry about so many photos. I’m really chuffed with this and really enjoyed making my own embellishments and using up some old stash. I’ve already started using it, as you probably spotted from my messy handwriting.

I’m so impressed with how easy this book was to make considering how complex it looks. There are so many uses for it too. I think someone is making one as a wedding planner.

SAL – Pooh’s Flowers #01

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs. Last time I showed you a peek of a new project.
I haven’t got much more done on it as I’ve been mostly playing with paper crafts but I have done a bit. Can you guess what it is yet?

I’m hoping to get a crack on with it and finish it for the next update so I can get back to Precious Dreams.

Coast Ripple Blanket #5

The Ripple blanket has come back out to play after last being worked on about four years ago. This is what it looked like when I put it away to do some shinier, newer projects.

Ripple-07 And this is what it looks like now.  I haven’t got much done, only 9 rows but I’d forgotten just how lovely and soft the Stylecraft DK is to work with. As it’s a simple pattern, I can do this while watching TV so I’m hoping to get it done fairly soon, and then I may do a smaller project or two, or I may carry on with Arizona and get that finished.

Last week I spent some time tidying and adding my yarn to Ravelry. I do have rather a lot, and my yarn boxes and drawers are full. Very full. I decided that I really needed to use a lot of it up before buying any more. So, no more trips to Aldi when the craft stuff is in, and definitely no more projects being started until the existing WIPs are complete.

Guess how long that resolve lasted? Right up until we went into Aldi for grocery shopping and found yarn there. Ok, so I only bought three packs, but one of them was such a good match to my winter coat, that I made a scarf in it. It’s a lovely squishy, chunky yarn and I decided to use Waffle stitch to make a textured scarf that’d be fairly stiff. The yarn is So Crafty Knit & Purl baby yarn and there were 4 100g balls in the pack. Just the right amount to make a scarf that can be worn like this. It’s incredibly warm, soft and snuggly so will be perfect for next winter.

A close up of the waffle stitch. The yarn was lovely to work with. I’d describe it as a chenille. No splitting and it flowed off the hook. It’d be great for making something like a loose cardi or jacket, instead of living in fleeces all the time.

Hopefully I’ll get back to the ripple now and have some decent progress to show soon.
