SAL – A whole lotta latte #9

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and A whole lotta latte is on page two now.

This is how it looked last time.

I’d finished page one and I was ready to scroll round to start page two. I decided to try to finish the purple cup, with its saucer for this update and this is how it looks now.

I even finished the backstitch on it so I’m rather pleased with that. There’s a lot more of the stripes cup to do than there was of the purple one but I’m hoping to complete that before the next update. Wish me luck!

SAL – A whole lotta latte #8

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and A whole lotta latte is onto page two now.

This is how it looked last time.

It didn’t take too long to finish off the rest of page one, complete with backstitch.

At this point, it was ready to scroll the fabric round a bit. I just did one turn as I find it easier to work at the bottom of the fabric as my arms get tired if I have to stretch to the top half.

I have done a little more to it since,  but haven’t had time to take a photo. For the amount I’ve done, it’s probably not worth it to be honest. I keep meaning to get the cross stitch out of an evening but I had the bright idea of re-reading one of my favourite sci-fantasy book series and I’m completely engrossed in it. It’s a 14 book series and the books are definitely on the chunky side. I may be some time yet as I’m currently on book five, so don’t expect too much from the next update either 😉

SAL – A whole lotta latte #7

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and A whole lotta latte is growing nicely.

This is how it looked last time. I’d made a decent start on the purple cup by doing some of the orange and green swirly patterns that are on it plus the steam.

The plan was to carry on with that cup as far as the end of page one, and then make a start on the cup on the other side. I think I managed that nicely.

This is the purple cup now.

There’s still quite a lot of cup to do but that’s all there is on the first page and I want to finish that page off before moving down any further as I’ll also need to move the fabric round on the scroll frame.

I’m quite pleased with how much I got done on the other cup too.

I just need to do a bit more on that to get to the bottom of the page.

This is what it all looks like now.

I’ve just got to finish that bit of cup and do the backstitch and then scroll round and carry on down the second page. I feel as if I’m really getting somewhere now.

SAL – A whole lotta latte #6

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and this time I’ve managed to do more than half a dozen stitches. Whoo hoo!

This is how it looked last time. Only the top tea-cup was backstitched, the pink border didn’t go all the way along the top and I’d barely started one of the two cups that the blue cup is balanced on.

Now the blue tea-cup is backstitched too and the pink border goes all the way along the top and down the sides as well.

I’ve done a few stitches to the cup on the right so that I could do the backstitch on the blue cup, but mostly I’ve concentrated on the left cup which now has coffee and some pretty steam swirls. I’ve started filling in the pattern on the cup before filing in the two blended shades of purple background but looking at the photo, I’m thinking those green and orange swirls look like a sad face.

I’m hoping to do the rest of those cups down to the bottom of page one, which is where I’ve stopped stitching the pink border on the right. Then I can scroll round a bit more and carry on with page two. I’m getting a bit more used to working on the black now, although it’s still slower going than it would be on a paler colour, but it is helping that the fabric is so taut, thanks to the frame that I have it on. It’s easy to tighten and slacken with the main downside being that it weighs a ton!

SAL – A whole lotta latte #5

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and prepare to be completely unimpressed by my progress this update. Oh yes, once again the speed at which three weeks can go by has surprised me again leaving me with just a few stitches to show you. Still, at least there are some stitches and not none, so I’m thankful for that.

At the last update I had two teacups with the top one being backstitched. The plan was to start the next two cups that join onto the blue/brown cup, so that I could backstitch it, and then roll the frame up so I could carry on working my way down.

That didn’t go entirely to plan. I’ve done enough of the cup on the right to be able to backstitch the blue/brown cup but didn’t get around to starting the left side cup let alone any backstitch.

Hopefully there’ll be backstitch done and some more pretty cups for the next update.

SAL – A whole lotta latte #4

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve finally got back to doing some cross stitch. It was close though. I’ve spent most of the past three weeks trying to decide whether to get the other Dance on the beach blanket finished or do some cross stitch. And, if it was cross stitch, should it be a new start – something small to tempt me back, or an existing WIP?

Then I got the email from Avis letting me know that the update was due in a few days. Yikes! Where did three weeks go?

A decision needed to be made quickly if I was going to have anything to post today, which ruled out a new start, so I grabbed the cross stitch project that was most ready to go and got cracking.

This is what it looked like back in May when it last got some attention.

It’s a bit hairy. I don’t know if the black fabric just shows the cat hair more or if there’s more of it about these days. I’ve taken the lint roller to it a few times but I keep having to pick hairs out of the way as I stitch. I suspect a lot of hairs will get worked in to the design. Lets call them speciality threads, eh?

This is where I’ve got to now.

I managed to finish the top teacup and even did the backstitch on it as I’d much rather get it out of the way a bit at a time.

I haven’t made a great deal of progress, but considering how late I left it to pick it up, you can at least see what I’ve done. Hopefully there’ll be more done for the next update, especially as I’ve bribed myself by promising myself a new start on Crazy cat lady once this one is finished. (and I really, really want to stitch Crazy cat lady)

A whole lotta latte #3

I’ve managed to squeeze in some time to do some more to Latte. The top teacup is almost finished but it looks a bit washed out in the photo. The sun was actually shining so the detail was lost on it. The pink flowers look quite pretty on the yellow background though.

Latte-03Hopefully I’ll finish the top soon and can start working my way down the stack of cups.
