This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and this time I’ve managed to do more than half a dozen stitches. Whoo hoo!
This is how it looked last time. Only the top tea-cup was backstitched, the pink border didn’t go all the way along the top and I’d barely started one of the two cups that the blue cup is balanced on.
Now the blue tea-cup is backstitched too and the pink border goes all the way along the top and down the sides as well.
I’ve done a few stitches to the cup on the right so that I could do the backstitch on the blue cup, but mostly I’ve concentrated on the left cup which now has coffee and some pretty steam swirls. I’ve started filling in the pattern on the cup before filing in the two blended shades of purple background but looking at the photo, I’m thinking those green and orange swirls look like a sad face.
I’m hoping to do the rest of those cups down to the bottom of page one, which is where I’ve stopped stitching the pink border on the right. Then I can scroll round a bit more and carry on with page two. I’m getting a bit more used to working on the black now, although it’s still slower going than it would be on a paler colour, but it is helping that the fabric is so taut, thanks to the frame that I have it on. It’s easy to tighten and slacken with the main downside being that it weighs a ton!
For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs:
Avis, Claire, Gun, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, Kathy,
Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, Linda, Catherine, Wendy, Mary Margaret, Timothy
Look how many of us there are now! Do allow for people being in different time zones, so not posting all at the same time, but it’s well worth doing a bit of blog hopping to see all the lovely projects that are being worked on.

Is it a Millennium frame? They are fabulous, aren’t they. I tend to use mine with a floor stand though, or a lap-stand set on a table.

It is. The frame is very good, just a shame about the customer service when you’re trying to buy one.
I’m using mine with a lap stand. It’s one that you sit on so it’s quite secure but once I’ve got that in position, plus the magnifying lamp and all the paraphernalia around me, there’s no way that I can get up quickly LOL

Using the blends is a pain, as I can’t do my usual loop start, but I do like the effect 🙂

That’s true! I’ve been getting use to the loop start method with my current project, but my Scarlet Quince is all blends!

I just love how colorful this is and how it really pops on the black fabric. Great progress.

I like the embroidery, because the theme is a bit different from other embroideries. It is great!!!!

It’s nice to stitch something different. I’m planning on doing a cat-themed one next though 🙂

Oooh, lovely! I think by the time that cup’s finished, the sad face won’t even be a face any more.

It only looks like a face because of where I stopped, I think. I’ll look all happy and swirly and purple when it’s finished 🙂

It’s looking great, though I don’t know how you manage to count this project- it looks a little tricky! And I can also see that sad face – hopefully it turns into a happy one!

It is trickier than pale fabric but it’s easier with good lights, one above and one below. Plus the magnifier, of course 🙂

The black might be harder to stitch on but it’s looking amazing. It’s really making the colours pop. I’m loving this.

The colours do look great on the black, don’t they. I think this one might end up being framed for the wall 🙂

They’re fun, aren’t they. I couldn’t resist doing them first as I knew they’d look so pretty against the black. Hopefully they’ll look just as good against the purple 🙂

Thanks! I’m quite enjoying this one again now, but I’ll still be happy to finish it so I can work on a paler fabric for a while.
