This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve done some more on Pumpkin Cottage.
This is how it looked last time
I didn’t get as much done as I’d hoped as I’ve had a pretty busy few weeks, but I have now finished the text and the cottage and made a start on the scenery.
I like to listen to audio books while I’m stitching. I’m listening to a John Scalzi at the moment. It’s the first book in The Collapsing Empire series and I’m really enjoying it. I like Scalzi’s books anyway, and his have the added bonus of being narrated by Will Wheaton who is by far my favourite narrator. Oddly, I find music too distracting and I get very little stitching done if the TV is on. Does anyone else listen to audiobooks while stitching?
For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.
Avis, Claire, Gun, Sue, Constanze, Christina, Kathy, Margaret, Cindy, Heidi, Jackie, Sunny, Hayley, Megan, Deborah, Mary Margaret, Renee, Carmela, Sharon, Daisy, Anne, Connie, AJ,Jenny, Laura, Cathie, Linda, Helen
Do allow for people being in different time zones, so not posting all at the same time, but it’s well worth doing a bit of blog hopping to see all the lovely projects that are being worked on.

You got a lot accomplished Carole! It’s looking lovely. I watch TV when I stitch only because then I can be in the same room as my husband lol.

What a darling little cottage. My current audio book for stitching is “The Other Einstein” and I’m enjoying it.

It’s cute, isn’t it. I do love CCN designs for cottages.
Don’t you find that when you’re listening to a book and really enjoying it, that it makes you want to do more stitching so you can carry on with the book? I rarely listen to audiobooks other than when I’m stitching so it’s good incentive to get my needles out 😉

I am impressed by how much stitching you have done over the three weeks. It certainly looks a lot to me. I usually stitch in the evening, while watching TV. My type of stitching doesn’t require any counting.

I find even without much counting, if I watch TV, I tend to sit there with my hand frozen while I stare at the screen. Not much stitching gets done LOL

Thanks. The colours are a lovely contrast to my last project. I’m feeling the need for even more colour next time though.

Looks like good progress to me. 🙂 Especially when you factor in the approaching holidays. I like to have an old favorite, familiar movie on when I’m stitching. I find music distracting too. The only audio book I’ve been able to listen to all the way through was the Harry Potter series narrated by Jim Dale. The narrator has to be good, and somehow right, for the book. I might get too distracted by the story to do any actual stitching though!

I know what you mean about the narrator being right. Will Wheaton is brilliant at narrating sci-fi but I can’t imagine him doing other genres. I might add the Harry Potter books to my wishlist. I’ve been thinking about re-reading them for a while.

I do listen to audiobooks sometimes while I stitch but I prefer silent daydreaming most of the time. Your cottage is coming along really well.

Silent daydreaming is also good, especially if you need to concentrate 🙂

This is coming along beautifully ! Can’t say I listen to audiobooks, nor do I ever read books and I have no good excuse at all ! I do manage to cross stitch with the TV however, but tend to pick the less engrossing shows to stitch, sometimes I just rewatch one of my fav TV shows as I remember most episodes by heart. Counting gets difficult when the film is really interesting !! I do have my patterns on my tablet however so when I struggle to count I can cross out what I’ve done, I’ve hardly ever had to frog since !

I do sometimes stitch when rewatching favourite TV shows. If you know what’s happening, you only need the audio, don’t you. I want to rewatch Stargate Atlantis again, but it’s not on any of the streaming doodads at the moment. That’d be a good one to stitch to.
I’m old school with patterns. I make a paper copy and use different colour highlighters if I need to 🙂

I listen to music when I am stitching. Music and stitching always relaxes me. I don’t think I could concentrate on an audio book. I would miss too much when counting stitches or changing floss. Pumpkin Cottage is really looking beautiful.

I couldn’t have listened to a book with my last project as it was so confetti-heavy but this one doesn’t need nearly as much concentration.
