SAL – A whole lotta latte #10

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and A whole lotta latte is coming on nicely now.

This is how it looked last time.

The plan was to try to finish the stripey cup and saucer but technical issues meant that I’ve had difficulty stitching over the past couple of weeks. I use a freestanding magnifier/light which I can’t stitch without, especially on black fabric. I’ve had this particular one for about 18 months and recently the flexible arm has got a bit too flexible and has not been able to hold the weight of the lamp. The only way I’ve been able to use it is to rest the lamp on my collarbone and peer down through it. Not ideal, as apart from being an uncomfortable position, it kept slipping off.

I was reluctant to replace it as the lamp part was working perfectly so I’ve come up with an ugly, but effective solution.

Ta da! What would I do without duck tape? Ribbon is removable so the cats don’t think it’s a new toy for them to play with.

So, the stitching. I managed to get some more done, once the lamp was fixed, and have got the cup done but not the saucer. I love this cup; I think it’s my new favourite.

The plan for the next update is to get that saucer done and make a start on the final cup & saucer.
