This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and A whole lotta latte is coming on nicely now.
This is how it looked last time.
The plan was to try to finish the stripey cup and saucer but technical issues meant that I’ve had difficulty stitching over the past couple of weeks. I use a freestanding magnifier/light which I can’t stitch without, especially on black fabric. I’ve had this particular one for about 18 months and recently the flexible arm has got a bit too flexible and has not been able to hold the weight of the lamp. The only way I’ve been able to use it is to rest the lamp on my collarbone and peer down through it. Not ideal, as apart from being an uncomfortable position, it kept slipping off.
I was reluctant to replace it as the lamp part was working perfectly so I’ve come up with an ugly, but effective solution.
Ta da! What would I do without duck tape? Ribbon is removable so the cats don’t think it’s a new toy for them to play with.
So, the stitching. I managed to get some more done, once the lamp was fixed, and have got the cup done but not the saucer. I love this cup; I think it’s my new favourite.
The plan for the next update is to get that saucer done and make a start on the final cup & saucer.
For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs:
Avis, Claire, Gun, LucyAnn, Kate, Jess, Sue, Constanze, Debbierose, Christina, Kathy,
Margaret, Cindy, Helen, Steph, Linda, Catherine, Mary Margaret, Timothy, Heidi, Connie
Look how many of us there are now! Do allow for people being in different time zones, so not posting all at the same time, but it’s well worth doing a bit of blog hopping to see all the lovely projects that are being worked on.

Oh Carole, you could have done at least a couple of stitches for the saucer, now I have to wait two more weeks to find out what colour it will be – maybe yellow or pink lol. Like you I love this mug. Well done on solving your magnifier problem. I find my light gets lower over a few days of stitching and usually end up banging my head against the shade before remembering to push it up high again.

I really love you project. I think I say this every update, but I really do love it 😀 What is the name/company of the kit? I’m thinking I may want to make one for myself.
That was a really great idea to fix your lamp. Very smart of you!

Thank goodness for duck tape. I know exactly what you mean about needing a decent light, if I didn’t have mine I couldn’t do a thing. Well done on a great fix and great progress!

That’s a creative solution! Even with this obstacle, you were able to get a lot of stitching done! That is a great pattern on the cup and loving the colors, but I think my favorite cup is still the purple one 🙂 Can’t wait to see the last cup!

The last cup is a nice one too, but I like my stripey/spotty one best, I think.

Even a broken lamp can’t put us off stitching 🙂 Who needs a new one when a fixed lamp will do? Your stitching looks fab!

lol I’m laughing at your lamp fixing . . . I did that with my last lamp, for about 2 years before I went and bought a new one.
Your stitching is as colourful as ever and I also think that last cup is my favourite.
