SAL – Los gatos – 05 1/2

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs.

I still haven’t managed to do any more on Los Gatos. The arthritis in my hand is improving but I don’t want to push my luck just yet. Just a quick pic to remind you what it looks like, and hopefully I’ll have stitched on it for the next update.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.

Do allow for people being in different time zones, so not posting all at the same time, but it’s well worth doing a bit of blog hopping to see all the lovely projects that are being worked on.

SAL – Los gatos – 05

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs.

I haven’t managed to do anything on Los Gatos since the last update. The arthritis has been quite bad in my hands recently and holding the needle aggravates it, so I’ve avoided stitching for the time being. I hope to get back to it soon though. This is how it looked last time, and hopefully it’ll be finished for the next update.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.

SAL – Los gatos – 04

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and Los Gatos is almost done.

I’m still doing just one colour at a time. This is what it looked like last time with all of the yellow and dark grey done.I’d already made a good start on the pale grey when I posted last time and finished it off quite easily. Then I got started on the orange/yellow. I love how it adds a layer of richness to the design. That’s 4/5 colours done now so I should have a finish for the next update.

I’m already thinking of what to stitch next and having seen several of my fellow bloggers doing other types of embroidery, I’m tempted to try to finish one of the projects that have been sitting in the WIPs box for some time. I just need to find one that doesn’t need the large scroll frame as the Hooties are sitting on that and I don’t want to have to keep swapping them over.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.

SAL – Los gatos – 03

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve done some more on Los Gatos.

I’ve carried on doing just one colour at a time. This is what it looked like last time with all of the yellow done and a start on the dark grey. This is what it looks like with the dark grey finished. I realise this is not the most impressive update 😉 I have made a good start on the pale grey, but haven’t taken a photo yet. Hopefully next time I’ll have all the pale grey plus all the dark yellow to show you.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs.

SAL – Los gatos – 02

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve been cracking on with Los Gatos.

Usually when I do a cross stitch project, I pick a starting point and work out from there. This time though, I fancied a change. As this design has only five colours, which are mostly in blocks, plus it’s nicely gridded for easier counting, I’m doing one colour at a time. So far I’ve done all the yellow and have started one of the greys. I realise that this gives you absolutely no idea what it’s going to be, but I’ve been having fun doing it like this.

I’ve also done February’s Hootie but I’ll put him in a separate post. I’ve managed to resist the temptation to do the cross stitch temperature chart that I mentioned last time, but it’s definitely on my To do list for next year.

SAL – Los gatos – 01

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve started not one, but two new projects.

Last time, I said that I was torn between fishing out a kit or printing one of the many digital charts in my stash. After some rummaging, I decided to stitch the most recent of my digital acquisitions, Los Gatos. I love the unusual colour palette in this design plus it’s cats, so right up my street.

I got the chart at Jardin Privé. The designer is Camille Coljé-Camps. I’ve done a chart from there before, but it had a nice English version. Los gatos didn’t. It’s a long time since I studied French, but how hard could it be? It’s just a chart. Just to be on the safe side though, I asked Claire for help. Thanks Claire 🙂

So, Los gatos is started. I haven’t got much done on it, mostly because I was procrastinating when I should have been rinsing and pressing the fabric and gridding it. Once that finally got done, I made a start on the stitching and this is the progress so far. Usually, I only stitch one project at a time but I had a little look on Etsy, while I was considering which projects out of my stash that I was going to do. (It seemed like a good idea at the time.) Oddly enough I ended up buying two more charts.

One of them is Hooties year round minis from Pinoy Stitch. I did a Hooties stitch in 2019 and loved doing it so I’ve had my eye on some of the other ones. This one is a mini Hootie for each month of the year and I thought it’d be fun to do one Hootie per month. I’ve done January and he’s very cute in his little scarf.

I was very tempted to start a third project as when I popped to Jardin Privè to get the link, I found a design for a temperature cross stitch. I did a temperature crochet blanket a few years ago, which I enjoyed doing, but the cross stitch version would be a lot quicker to do each day and is very versatile in how many extra things you can add. I’ve bookmarked it for next year though as I think two at a time is quite enough LOL

SAL – Douceur de vivre #6

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’m delighted to say that I have a finish!

SoL-15FThat border looks lovely but it was really fiddly. I think I spent as much time looking at the back of the work as I did the front.

I’m not sure how I’m going to finish this one off. It’ll be going in the (rather full) tub of completed projects. I really must do something with them one of these days…

New project next time and I’m not sure which one it’ll be. I have one lined up ready, but there are a couple more that are clamouring for attention, so who knows which one’ll win.

For the stitch-a-long I’m linking up to these lovely blogs:

SAL – Douceur de vivre #5

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and there hasn’t been much progress this time.

SOL-14I’m working on that border and it’s proving to be very fiddly. I’ve done the stems and have started on the leaves but I’ve still got a lot of leaves to do. After that there are flowers in two different colours. I’m definitely aiming for a finish for next time though.

SAL – Douceur de vivre #4

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and I’ve now finished all the squares, leaving just the border to do.

The first square has another little cottage.

SoL-11I’ve enjoyed doing the cottage squares, with the pretty pink buildings.

Next was a garden square with flowers, a little white fence and a tree that I loved stitching.

SoL-12The final square has a lady watering her garden with a butterfly flitting between squares.

SoL-13I’m not sure about the watering can. It looks a funny shape to me, but it’ll do.

SoL-10

I’m thinking the border might take a while but I’m hoping to get a finish for the next update. I already have the next SAL project planned and am looking forward to starting it.

SAL – Douceur de vivre #3

This is the scheduled three-weekly post for the SAL that I’m doing with several other crafty blogs and for this update I’ve finished another three squares.

This is top left. I quite like the shape of that tree and I’d been looking forward to doing the bird to get rid of that two-stitch gap in the grid. That looks much better now.

SoL-09Next I did top centre, which has a lovely rustic chimney on the side.

SoL-08And then it was top right, which is my favourite square so far.

SoL-07I was listening to Lord of the Rings (audiobook) while stitching that one, and had got to the part where the hobbits are going through the ancient forest and get tangled up with the evil willow tree just before meeting Tom Bombadil. It felt quite appropriate to be stitching a willow tree while listening. Mine isn’t evil though and hasn’t eaten up any hobbits recently.

Six squares done now then, and this is what it all looks like.
